The endeavour of the OB/HRM area at IIM Kashipur is to further a basic understanding of individual and group behaviour at the organisational and individual level. The area seeks to integrate theory and practice in researching and teaching HRM and OB.
The nature of work has changed with new terms being used to describe the context of work such as 'liquid modernity', the’ gig economy’, ‘zero-hour contracts’ and the ‘digitalised nature’ of the modern workplace. Given the above operative background, the area strives to apply and transmit its research and instructional pedagogy into practical implications for a wide arena of stakeholders. The area also furthers IIM Kashipur's footprint through vigorous outreach with the corporate world and also offers customised MDPs to managers, governmental and non-governmental participants.

The objectives of the area are
- To prepare managers who are ready to face challenges of tomorrow in the corporate world by inculcating in them the salient aspects of the art and science of people management
- To sensitise students about humane and sustainable management practices in the context of climate change and national and global challenges.
