IIM Kashipur’s Executive Fellow Programme in Management (EFPM) is a non-residential doctoral programme designed for senior executives working in business, government and social sectors and interested in pursuing research in the field of management.
The objectives of the programme are:
The programme is split into two phases.
Phase I: Course Work & Comprehensive Examination
Phase II: Thesis
Phase I: Course Work & Comprehensive Examination
The first phase of the programme consists of course work spread across three terms and is conducted at IIM Kashipur campus. In the first phase, scholars have to take nine courses, including one CIS (Course of Independent study)/ project. These involve four general core courses, two area core courses and two specialization courses, with each course involving thirty contact hours:
|Type*||Term I||Term II||Term III|
|General Core (4)||Crafting Research||Quantitative Research Methods||Qualitative Research Methods Case Writing|
|CIS||-||CIS (to be start by middle of Term II)|
The CIS project provides an opportunity to the scholar to dwell in reasonable detail on an issue that concerns or interests them deeply. Although the CIS and a scholar’s subsequent doctoral research are independent of each other, a good CIS project can become useful in subsequent development of research proposal.
*Course structure is subject to change
|Term I||July 2017 to October, 2017|
|Term II||November 2017 to February 2018|
|Term III||March 2018 to June 2018|
In each term, candidates will have to make two visits of 8 days’ duration. Combining preceding and succeeding weekends, candidates would need to take one work-week off for each campus visit.
While each course will have its own evaluation, at the end of all course work, a scholar will have to take a comprehensive examination (CE). Successful completion of CE marks the end of Phase I of the programme.
The second phase of the programme consists of Thesis work. It involves the following three stages: (i) development of thesis proposal culminating in proposal defense; (ii) thesis development – this will involve a half-yearly progress report presentation and a pre-thesis presentation before submission of the thesis; and (iii) thesis submission culminating in examination of thesis by external examiners. In addition, the EFPM programme also requires publication of at least two research papers in reputed journals to demonstrate scholarly competencies of the candidate.
DURATION OF THE PROGRAMME
The thesis should be submitted within 4 years from the date of registration, which may be extended by another one year subject to merits of the case and favorable review of work progress by the Research Committee.
The total fee of the programme will be Rs. 5.5 Lakhs over the 4 year period from the date of registration. The fee for the first year is Rs. 2.0 Lakhs, for second year Rs 1.5 Lakh and Rs. 1 Lakh for each of the following two years. The first year fee is to be payable at the time of the confirmation of the admission. In subsequent years fee is payable in the first week of July.
