Biography

Dr. Shisam Bhattacharyya is Partner – Data Solution (Dept. AIML) at Apexon (a Goldman Sachs company), with over 17 years of blended industry and academic experience across prestigious corporations and eminent institutions. He has held senior management positions at HDFC Bank, Wipro, Tata Steel, and SAFEXPRESS.

Alongside his industry career, Dr. Bhattacharyya has been actively associated with academia, teaching subjects such as Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Operations Research, Data Science, Business Analytics, Generative AI, and Agentic AI at leading institutions including IIM Kashipur, IIT Guwahati, IIM Lucknow, IIM Visakhapatnam, IIM Sambalpur, and XIMB University.

He has contributed extensively to research and publications, authoring multiple international publications, including a book, research papers, and news articles in the domain of Supply Chain and Operations Management. In 2008, he became a SAP Certified ABAP ECC 6.0 Consultant in India.

Dr. Bhattacharyya received the Best Young Researcher Award from the Forum of Scientists, Engineers and Technologists (FOSET) in consecutive years, 2011 and 2012. He also serves as a reviewer and editorial board member for several high-impact international journals and is associated with professional bodies such as the International Association of Engineers (Hong Kong Chapter) and the Society of Operations Management (IIM Lucknow Chapter).

Recognized globally as an industry practitioner, he has participated in international summits including GSC’16 at Loughborough University, UK, and was nominated as Principal Investigator for the Low Carbon Supply Chain Initiative under the UK–India Research Collaboration program.

Beyond academics and industry, Dr. Bhattacharyya has actively contributed to social initiatives through the National Cadet Corps (NCC) and continues volunteering in the Clean Ganga Mission with the Tata Steel Adventure Academy. A former professional badminton player, participating in the 66th West Bengal State Badminton Championship remains one of his enduring passions.
