About Details

The Operations and Supply Chain Club of the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur is a student-run club that aims to foster interest and knowledge in the field of operations and supply chain management. The club acts as a perfect medium dedicated for the students to help them in enhancing their domain knowledge and explore new horizons by assisting them to pursue their interests related to the field. Being established in the initial years of the Institute, the OSM club is one of the oldest clubs in IIM Kashipur.

By successfully carrying out a number of intra and inter-college events along with interactive sessions, the club has marked its supreme presence amongst the corporates & fellow institutes and has been a front runner in demonstrating excellence as well as in proliferating the domain advancements.

The club organizes a range of events and activities, such as guest lectures, case study competitions, industry visits, and workshops, that provide members with opportunities to learn about best practices, trends, and challenges in the field.

  • OPS-FEED – Monthly Newsletter (Every month):

The Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSM) Club publishes a monthly newsletter that covers the latest and most critical events and trends in the field of operations and supply chain management. The newsletter also includes a Technical Panorama section that provides readers with in-depth technical analysis and insights into various topics related to the field. Through this newsletter, the OSM Club aims to keep its members and readers informed and up-to-date on the latest developments in operations and supply chain management, as well as to enrich their understanding of technical aspects related to the field.

  • OPS-HUNT – Intra College Treasure Hunt ( Sept 2022)

This fun filled event involves participants to crack each riddle which will based on the concepts of operations and supply chain management in order to collect the clue for the next riddle. The participants are given a clue card which on the end of clearing all rounds would lead to the final bumper prize zone. This eventful engagement along with learnings is one of a kind treasure hunt.

  • KPMG Lean Six Sigma Green Belt Certification (Oct 2022)

A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt is an individual trained in the Lean Six Sigma methodology who leads improvement projects, analyses data, and helps improve processes by identifying and eliminating non-value-added activities.

Facilitated and successfully converted 100% registrants i.e., 105 students for Six Sigma Green Belt Certification from KPMG.

  • OSMOSIS – National Level Quiz (Oct 2022)

The National Level Flagship Quizzing on Operations is a quiz competition that tests the knowledge of participants on various topics related to operations management, such as supply chain management, process improvement, quality control, and logistics. It is a highly competitive event that aims to identify and recognize individuals with exceptional understanding and expertise in the field of operations management.

  • OPS-KASCADE – Intra College Simulation Event (Dec 2022)

The tower building challenge is a simulation exercise that presents participants with multiple operational constraints, such as budget limitations, time constraints, and limited resources, to construct a tower structure. By using a decision modelling approach under operations research, participants can analyse various scenarios, optimize resource allocation, and determine the best course of action to achieve the desired outcomes. The challenge highlights the value of applying analytical methods to complex business problems.

  • Industrial Visit ( Jan 2023)

Objectives of Industrial visit:  "Education – Exposure – Experience."

  1. To create awareness about the manufacturing processes and supply chain practices of the automobile industry.
  2. To give industrial exposure - bridge the gap between classroom theoretical training and practical learning in a real-life environment.
  • OPERATIUS – National Level Case Competition ( Jan 2023)

A national level case study competition on operations and supply chain management is a great opportunity for students, professionals, and researchers to showcase their analytical and problem-solving skills in the area of operations and supply chain management. This edition was sponsored by KnoWerX where in the case was based on logistics, warehousing, operations management, and Industry 4.0 attracting more than 1600 participants.

  • OPS-BLAZE – National Level Business Simulation Game ( Jan 2023)

A national level operations simulation game for businesses is a great opportunity for participants to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a simulated business environment. The teams must demonstrate cooperation abilities, rapid decision-making abilities, and a fundamental awareness of the operation and supply chain area.

  • OPERACLE - National Level Case Competition ( Feb 2023)

This is flagship pan India case study competition that challenges the participants to come up with the most efficient idea/solution for the case provided. The competition aims to encourage the development of critical thinking and problem-solving skills in the area of operations and supply chain management, and allows participants to apply their theoretical knowledge and practical skills in a simulated business environment.

  • Grant Thornton Lean Six Sigma Black Belt Certification ( Mar 2023)

Black Belts have a deep understanding of statistical analysis tools and techniques and are capable of managing teams, collecting and analysing data, and communicating findings to senior management. They also play a critical role in training and mentoring other Six Sigma professionals within an organization. The club provides opportunity to upgrade their green belt into black belt by certification programme from Grant Thornton.

In conclusion, the club functions as constant support to the IIM Kashipur student fraternity in pursuing their interests in the field of Operations and Supply Chain Management and works in association with different internal & external stakeholders to maintain and uplift the academic rigor that the Institute fosters.
