Industry Workshops

The initiative

IIM Kashipur completed review of its flagship MBA program in 2020. The review exercise was aimed to make the curriculum modern and increase the industry-readiness of the graduating cohort. “Industry Workshop” was conceived as an activity by prospective employers and industry experts to help the cohort bridge the gap between theory and practice.

The industry workshops are aimed to be a unique way to enhance the industry-readiness of the graduating cohort. Given that around half the cohort comprises of freshers with no or little work-experience, this is a critical component that the MBA curriculum provides to participants. This is one of the differentiators of IIM Kashipur’s MBA program.

IIM Kashipur aims to achieve the following goals through the industry workshops:

  1. The goal of the industry workshops is to acquaint the MBA participants, at IIM Kashipur, with the latest business practices in the industry and the economy through directed interactions with practitioners.
  2. The industry workshops are intended to bridge participants’ experience from internship to final placement.
  3. The industry workshops are designed to provide MBA participants with exposure to apply classroom learning to industry practices using various perspectives.
  4. The industry workshops will help in providing participants with practical understanding of latest industry developments across functional areas.

Structure

  1. The program will offer 3 industry workshops in each term of second year MBA curriculum. Thus, a total of around 9 industry workshops are to be organized (3 in each of three terms respectively totalling to 9 workshops).
  2. Each industry workshop will be a non-credit compulsory component (as per MBA program structure) for evaluation of CGPA.
  3. Each industry workshop will be of 12.5 hours duration (as per MBA program structure). This will be equivalent to 10 classroom contact sessions.
