Programme Objective

The Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on Elevating Academics with Generative AI: Teaching, Research, and Administration is designed to empower academic leaders and educators with the strategic knowledge and practical skills to seamlessly integrate Generative AI into higher-education workflows.

Designed as an immersive 5-day experience, the programme aims to enhance instructional design, elevate research rigor, streamline administrative responsibilities, and foster a culture of responsible AI governance across academic institutions.

Programme Content & Tools

Module 1: GenAI Landscape, Platforms, and Risk Mitigation
This foundational module provides an overarching view of the Generative AI ecosystem, covering core architectures such as Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) and Agentic AI, alongside a hands-on introduction to dominant AI platforms. Participants critically explore risk factors, including algorithmic bias, hallucinations, and accurate citation practices. Key learnings focus on working with modern AI, mitigating ethical risks in output, and initiating a capstone project.
Module 2: Communicating with AI: Prompt Techniques and Custom Assistants
Focusing on practical execution, this module equips educators with systematic prompt methodologies to extract optimal performance from large language models. Attendees move beyond basic prompting to build custom academic agents and complete a hands-on Capstone phase focused on course mapping, assignment creation, and the integration of faculty judgment. Key learnings include creative coursework design and assessment criteria that constructively incorporate AI tools.
Module 3: AI-Driven Pedagogical Innovation and Personalisation
This module reimagines traditional classroom paradigms by embedding AI into curriculum development, lesson planning, personalised learning, and summative assessment. The module also focuses on constructing and implementing actionable course-level AI policies. Key learnings emphasise drafting AI-enhanced teaching plans, structuring adaptive assessments to meet diverse student needs, and developing enforceable, transparent AI-use policies for classroom settings.
Module 4: AI for Advanced Research Productivity and Ethical Governance
Tailored for research scholars and academic leaders, this module addresses institutional AI ethics and governance, as well as practical frameworks for utilising AI as an end-to-end research assistant. Through structured Capstone exercises, participants will leverage AI across core research stages from problem formulation and literature mapping to methodology selection and analysis design. Key learnings centre on ethical AI communication, accelerating academic research workflows without compromising integrity, and the structured formulation of methodologies using intelligent assistants.
Module 5: Research Evaluation and Strategic AI Roadmap
The final module bridges research critique with academic administration, training faculty to critically review research papers using GenAI. The programme will culminate in a strategic planning where participants synthesise their learning into a comprehensive institutional AI roadmap. Key learnings focus on executing rigorous peer-review analyses with AI support, optimising administrative efficiency, and formulating executive roadmaps for campus-wide AI integration.

Prof. Mayank Sharma is an Associate Professor in the Information Technology & Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. His academic and professional work lies at the intersection of Information Systems, Analytics, Artificial Intelligence, and emerging digital technologies. Prof. Rajiv Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology & Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. He holds Ph.D. in Information Systems from Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Ranchi. He is M. Tech in media and sound engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur. He also has worked with Samsung India Software Operation Pvt. Ltd and Texas Instrument (India) Pvt. Ltd. He has teaching interest in MIS, Computational Tools for Business, Business Intelligence & Analytics, AI and Machine Learning, Business Research Methods, and Data Analytics Using R & Python. His research includes E-services, Machine Learning & Deep Learning, Impact of Artificial Intelligence, Dark Side of Digital Transformation, Technology and Society, and Diffusion of Innovation/Technology Adoption.

Prof. Harish Kumar

Prof. Harish Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology & Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. He holds Ph.D. in Information Systems from Department of Management Studies, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi, and M. Tech. from International Institute of Information Technology (IIIT) Hyderabad. His research and teaching areas include Artificial Intelligence, Metaverse, Visual Analytics, Digital Transformation and Data Visualization & BI reporting.

Prof. Ben Krishna

Prof. Ben Krishna

Prof. Ben Krishna is an Assistant Professor in the Information Technology & Systems area at the Indian Institute of Management Kashipur. He holds PhD in Information Systems from the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Kozhikode, complemented by an MBA and an undergraduate degree in engineering a combination of technical, managerial, and research training. Before entering academia, he spent several years in the IT services industry in roles spanning software development and business analysis. His teaching includes MIS, E-Commerce, Information Security Governance, Generative AI and Prompt Engineering Strategy, and Data Science & Machine Learning. His research examines information security, security policy compliance, cyber hygiene, financial technology adoption and digital payment usage. He has been awarded with the Research for Impact (RFI) Fellowship hosted by J-PAL/CLEAR South Asia, recognising research oriented toward measurable social and policy outcomes.
